Elaine Flynn, 92, passed away peacefully at The Palms of Sebring, Florida, August 19,
Gordon Flynn for 46 years. She was formerly married to Arthur Moore and has four
children, Carolyn (Mike) Housewert, Naples, Florida; Steven (Barb) Moore, Belvidere,
Illinois; Denise (Donald) Thompson, Belvidere, Illinois; and Jennifer (Bill) Schauer,
Pecatonica, Illinois. She has two stepsons, Paul (Emily) Flynn, Albuquerque, New
Mexico, and Daniel Flynn, Mountain View, Arkansas. Elaine has 14 grandchildren and
19 great-grandchildren.
Elaine was aboard the first ship, the Argentina, which brought English war brides to the
United States after World War II.
She worked as Director of Communications in Rockford, Illinois, Wisconsin and
Minnesota. Elaine was an avid tennis player participating in competitions into her 70’s.
She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed traveling especially to her beloved
homeland of England. She crossed the Atlantic on the Queen Mary with three children
to see her parents. Plants, flowers, nature and the beach were also loved by Elaine.
She loved her dog, Charlie, who brought her much joy.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents William and Doris Pascoe and her brother,
Dennis Pascoe all from England.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of
Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to
the Shriner’s organization.
