Edward "Ed" Martin Oglesby

August 17, 1934 — July 29, 2023

Sebring

Our beloved Dad, Papa, and Lambie has gone home to heaven. Edward “Ed” Martin Oglesby, 88, of Sebring, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 29, 2023.

Ed was born August 17, 1934 in Union County, Kentucky. He attended grade school in Union County until seventh grade. Then he transitioned to working full-time to support his family, including six younger siblings. Ed served in the United States Army for five years - two active and three reserves. It was there that he earned his GED. Despite leaving school at a young age, Ed went on to be a top-notch salesman for Economy Food Stores, Conwood Corporation and Biltbest Windows. It was during his time as a Regional Sales Manager and Trainer for Conwood Corporation that he met his forever sweetheart, Mina Rose.

Ed came to know the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted the gift of salvation in the middle of his life. Soon after, he and his wife were led to form Mina Oglesby Enterprises Incorporated, and in 1987 they began serving in ministry as a team. That ministry took them across the country and around the globe. Brother Ed’s Book Table partnered with special speaker and singer Mina Oglesby as they served in churches upon request, Ed managing the sales and distribution of hundreds of books, songbooks, cassettes, and CDs every step of the way. His vibrant personality and fun sense of humor enamored all who met him, and he cherished the opportunity to serve the Lord alongside his wife for more than thirty years.

Ed was an avid fisherman but also a fisher of men. He loved to make people laugh with his quick wit and harmless/silly pranks. He was deeply devoted to his family, a steady and strong patriarch who pointed to God every step of the way.

Edward “Ed” Oglesby is survived by his wife, Mina Oglesby, his children Stacey Mishler, Everett “Matt” Oglesby, Faye Davis, John Oglesby and family, and Kathy Oglesby and family. He is also survived by his grandchildren Charlie White (Gregory White), Talmadge Williams (Lindsey McWain), Tucker Williams (Lissette Williams), and Lena Oglesby, as well as four great-grandchildren. Ed is preceded in death by his father, Thurman Oglesby, his mother, Della Pearl Koonz, his brothers Kenny, Raymond, Jimmy, and Pat, and his sister Rose. He is survived by his sister Jan.

The funeral service will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring, Florida on August 2, 2023 at 11:00 am. Pastor Daryl Jeffers will officiate the service and Pastor Ralph Flowers will deliver the message. Some of Ed’s favorite songs that Mina sang will be played throughout the service.
