Richard was born at home in Chesaning on December 19, 1939 to Boehmul and Caroline (Kovalik) Lycka. A 1959 graduate of Chesaning High School, he married Dorla Archambault on June 13, 1959. They had two sons and resided in the Parshallburg area while he worked at General Motors in Flint, until moving north to Mesick, Michigan in 1975.

Richard was a hard worker in the construction industry which took him from Michigan to Texas and Florida. He loved to work! Proof being, he built one of his own homes. He enjoyed squirrel hunting with his boys and searching for mushrooms. Richard’s favorite pastime was watching old westerns on TV, along with his programming of choice, the Discovery Channel. But, his most enjoyable hobby was working on and tinkering with cars. His pride and joy was his 1970 El Camino that he took to many car shows.

He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia (Dick) Hines, brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Marise) Lycka, brothers-in-law, Bert Pirochta, Robert Weigold, sisters-in-law, Marlene Cartensen, Geri Haney, Donna Felker; and niece Tammy Pirochta Bennett.
