Edward M. Hovanec

Edward M. Hovanec, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Sebring, Florida.  He was born on July 2, 1937 to the late Andrew and Helen (Piertch) Hovanec in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  Edward served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force.  He and his wife Darlene raised their family in Anchorage, Alaska. They moved to Sebring in 2001. In Alaska, Ed was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.   He was an umpire in the Anchorage Softball Association, and loved fishing with his family on the Kenai Peninsula.  Survivors include his wife: Darlene Hovanec of Sebring, FL; Children: Michael Hovanec (Carol) of Anchorage, AK; Pamela Hovanec of Avon Park, FL; Patrick Hovanec of Anchorage, AK; Colleen Alexander of Anchorage, AK; Derek Hovanec (Juanita) of TX; Brother: Andrew Hovanec of TN; five Grandchildren and four Great-Grandchildren.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105. www.stjude.org
