Edith Cleo "Penny" (Evans) Williams

Edith C. “Penny” (Evans) Williams, 91 of Port Charlotte, Florida passed from this life on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Penny was born on June 6, 1924 in Velpen, Indiana to Prentis C. and Alta (Peach) Evans. Penny married Robert “Bob” Williams on September 26, 1945 and they were married 64 years before his passing in 2009. Penny retired from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, after many years of service. Penny was a long standing member of the United Pentecostal Church. In 1993 they moved to Sebring, Florida and enjoyed many years of retirement. They attended New Life Fellowship Church in Sebring, FL for many years.  Survivors include her sons, Rick Williams (Linda)-Port Charlotte, FL; Steven Williams (Janie)-Indianapolis, IN, daughter, Rita Sims (Larry)-North Port, FL, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She is also survived by two sisters, Wanda Russel-Kokomo, IN and Veda Lee-Princeton, IN.  There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, May 22, 2016 beginning at 11:30 am, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 1:00 pm with Reverend Larry Sims officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following the service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Placid, FL.
