Edd Gregg Vowels

Edd Gregg Vowels, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. He was born on January 30, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Freeman and Mable Vowels. Edd moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1973 and settled in Sebring in 1993.

Edd is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Mary Laurita “Rita”  Vowels; his children, Lauri Vowels Kinslow (Clay) of Sebring, FL, and Tim Vowels (Pam) of Arcadia, FL, Todd Vowels, deceased, (Susan) of Sarasota; his siblings, Jimmy Vowels (Agnes) of Louisville, KY, Don Vowels of Louisville, KY, and Bill Vowels (Debbie) of Valrico, FL; his five cherished grandchildren, Brandon Vowels (Allison), Anslee Miller (Josh), Wyatt Kinslow (Madison), Savannah Vowels, and Tanner Vowels; and his three great-grandchildren, Jaxon Dillon, Austyn Kinslow, and Rhett Kinslow. He will also be missed by his beloved cats, Squeek and Boots, who brought him much joy.

A man of vision and determination, Edd owned and operated McDonald’s restaurants, where he found joy in building a family business. His family stood by his side in this endeavor, creating a legacy of hard work and commitment. Deeply dedicated to his community, Edd was actively involved with St. Catherine Catholic Church and was a proud member of several organizations, including the Kiwanis Club, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Chamber of Commerce and the Industrial Development Authority/Economic Development Commission of Highlands County.

Edd found great pleasure in the simple joys of life. A devoted golfer and freshwater fisherman, he loved his time with the “Bass Buzzards of Sarasota” and relished his travels to the mountains and frequent visits to the casino. Known for his meticulous nature and generosity, he was admired as a community-minded businessman, a steadfast friend, and a family man through and through.

Edd Gregg Vowels will be remembered as a man of kindness, integrity, and devotion. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
