Dovie C. Phillips

Dovie C. Phillips, age 91, of Sebring, Florida passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016. Dovie was born in Alfordsville, Robeson County, North Carolina to Jule and Lula Cummings on September 27, 1924.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 72 years, William Raymond Phillips, her parents, and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by brothers, Wade, Carl, and Hardy of North Carolina, and sister Lorraine of North Carolina. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and special niece Gale Cook of Sebring, Florida. After Ray left the Army, he and Dovie settled in East Peoria, Illinois. Ray had a sewer construction business and Dovie was a homemaker who also worked part-time remodeling home interiors. Dovie and Ray wintered in Kissimmee, Florida, and summered in Illinois for many years before finally settling in Sebring, Florida year around.  Dovie was an active member of each of her churches in East Peoria, Illinois, Kissimmee, and Sebring, FL.  A visitation will be held on March 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm, with services beginning at 1:30 pm with Pastor Tod Swingel officiating.
