Dorothy "Dot" Young

Dorothy “Dot” Young, age 95, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in Titusville, Florida. She was born on May 28, 1921 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late James E. and Minnie (Lawrence) Killebrew. Dot moved to Sebring in 1925, and was a graduate of Sebring High School. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Sebring where she was involved in Woman’s Missionary Union, taught Sunday school and was the former church secretary. She was Past President of Sebring Lions Auxiliary; member of the Sebring Garden Club and former member of the Sebring Historical Society. Dot loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by them all.  Survivors include her daughter: Pat Barden-Titusville, FL, son: Colonel (Ret.) Lance Young (Lenna)-Greenville, SC; grandchildren: Megan McAvoy (Brian), Audrey Young (Chip Hart), Jamie Barden Fitzgerald (Colin), Gerad Barden (Sejal); great-grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley (Mike), Amy, Kiersten, Tyler, Laci, Kendall, Vikram, Rohan, Grady, Conor, Jack, and Jamie. Along with her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William “Bill” Young, son, Gary Young, infant daughter, Janet Kay, son-in-law, Jerry Barden and sister, Thera Thompson. The family would like to express their gratitude to Letha Adams, Dot’s friend and caregiver in Titusville. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, 12:00pm at First Baptist Church of Sebring with Reverend Allen Higginbotham officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am.  A private family interment will follow service at Pinecrest Cemetery, Sebring, FL.
