Dorothy Rankin, age 82, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Wauchula, FL. She was born May 14,1939 in Breeding, Kentucky to Clyde and Thelma (Rowe) England. Her family moved to North Anderson, Indiana in the 1940’s, she worked at Anderson University for 20 years before moving to South Florida and working at Broward & Dade County Community Colleges. She opened Dot’s Restaurant in 1988, serving Highlands County for 30 years. She was a big volunteer for the Highlands County Humane Society. Dorothy and has been a resident of Highlands since 1986. She is survived by her loving sons, Allen Wilkerson of Sebring, Florida; Wayne Wilkerson of San Diego, California; siblings, Jean, Edna, Barbara, Shirley and Clyde Jr. all of Newport News, Virginia. Surviving are also 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highlands County Humane Society 7421 Haywood Taylor Blvd, Sebring, FL 33876.
