Dorothy Claire Payne

Dorothy "Claire" Payne, beloved sister and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, in Oxford, FL, at the age of 68. She was born on January 15, 1956, in Sebring, FL, to the late Robert and Edith Payne. Claire spent her adult life in Sanford, FL and Concord, NC where her warmth and strength touched countless lives.

A proud alumna of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Claire graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, embarking on a career as a Systems Analyst in the computer programming industry. Her love for technology and her dedication to her work were evident in every project she undertook, and her colleagues knew her as a talented and reliable professional who took pride in her work. Claire was known for her sharp intellect and genuine passion for her career, and she left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside her.

Beyond her career, Claire was an active member of her church community, where her faith was central to her life. She found comfort and connection in her Bible study group, surrounded by others who shared her deep spirituality. In her quiet moments, she was an avid reader, finding joy in the pages of a good book. Claire’s intelligence, dedication, and unwavering faith were complemented by her bright sense of humor, which brought light to all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Howard (Brian) of Leesburg, FL, and her brothers, Henry Payne (Wilmah) of Chesterfield, VA and Robert Payne (Carolyn), of Webster, FL. Claire is fondly remembered by her family and close friends, who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edith, and her sister, Edith Marie Payne Cumby.

Claire's legacy lives on through the love she shared with her family and friends, her devotion to her faith, and her dedication to her work. She will be remembered for her intelligence, her humor, and her unwavering kindness.
