Dorothy Ann Kennedy

Born on August 15, 1931 to Florrie Lou and TC Yearwood in Miami, Florida, Dorothy Ann Kennedy passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 72 years, John “Jack” and her eldest son John. She is survived by her children Trish (Mike) Gunter, Tom (Gilda) Kennedy, Betty (Mark) Gambill, Jim (Beth) Kennedy, Mike (Richelle) Kennedy, Tim (Teresa) Kennedy, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Dorothy graduated from Miami Edison High School and Florida Atlantic University where she received a Master’s in Education. She taught elementary school in Broward County for many years and later moved to Lake Placid, Florida where she and her husband spent 44 years enjoying life at their Lakehouse and many visits from family and friends.

Dorothy was very artistic and took pleasure in her many creative hobbies such as crochet, ceramics, stained glass, knitting, and arts and crafts.

Her life centered around her family and her faith. She leaves us with many wonderful, fun and laughter filled memories of camping trips, family celebrations and get togethers. Any friends that were brought home by her children were welcomed into the fold and considered as family too. She was loved, cherished and a gift to all that knew her.

She was also an animal lover who was always taking in stray cats, dogs and any animal that needed a loving home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to an animal rescue of your choice would honor her memory.
