Dorothy L. Brown

Age 74, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in Sebring, Florida. Mrs. Brown was born in Avon Park, Florida on April 25, 1940 to James Elvie and Clara Darlein (Correll) Baucom. She was a Supervisor for Sprint having worked there for 28 years, retiring in 1993; she worked part time for the Avon Park Historical Society after retiring, and was a volunteer at Florida Hospital in Sebring and she was a member of Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Avon Park, Florida. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband-Ralph "Jack" Brown of Avon Park, Florida; daughters-Shelia Shrum (Bill) of Longwood, Florida, Rosalind Wilkes (Lawrence) of Avon Park, Florida, Lucy Prescott (Perry) of Alva, Florida, Connie Bass (Artie) of Avon Park, Florida, Beth Jones (Mark) of Sebring, Florida and Julie Key (Scott) of Winter Haven, Florida; sons-James Jackson (Debbie) of Cape Coral, Florida, Ralph Brown, Jr. (Cindy) of Avon Park, Florida and Ronnie Brown of Avon Park, Florida; sisters-Linda Palmer (Michael) of Joshua, Texas and Katy Baucom-Sims of Avon Park, Florida; brothers-Lloyd Baucom (Diane) of Webster, Florida and Harold Baucom (Babs) of Sebring, Florida; Uncle-Jimmie Correll of Monticello, Georgia; Aunt Katy Hurm of Snohomish, Washington; 25 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, Florida. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church with Rev. George Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
