Dorothy Cross Biever, age 88 passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in Sebring, Florida. She was born on February 19, 1923 to Glen and Matilda (Beck) Smith in Oswego, New York. She spent most of her life in Mexico, New York where she graduated from Mexico High School and RBI in Oswego, New York. She was a postal clerk at the Mexico, New York post office until her retirement in 1972. She married Willard Cross in 1946 and they both retired and moved to Avon Park, Florida in 1977 to River Greens Golf Course, they were former members at Elms Golf Club in Sandy Creek, New York where they had a cottage for years. Dorothy was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church where she was choir director and organist for many years. Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and Ladies Guild, where she was a choir member for 25 years. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion and Moose Lodge; she had been a member of River Greens Golf Club since 1977 where she wrote the River Green News for the Tampa Tribune and the News Sun for 16 years. Dorothy is survived by her husband Robert Biever who she married in 2004. She also is survived by nieces, nephews and second cousins. A memorial mass will be held Friday, February 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Nick McLoughlin officiating.
