Dorothy W. Annis

Dorothy W. Annis, age 87, of Sebring, Florida, surrounded by her loved ones, passed away peacefully, on October 24, 2022, in Ormond Beach, Florida.  Dorothy (Dottie) was born, March 12, 1935, in Westmoreland, Tennessee.   Her parents were Robert and Georgia Hackett of Naples, Florida. Dottie married James B. Annis, Sr., on June 12, 1954, in Miami, Florida.  Dottie and Jim served as missionaries/field evangelists, under the International Mission Board, in Ghana, West Africa from 1964 to 1979.  Upon returning to the United States, the couple made their home in Sebring, Florida.  In addition to serving the Lord alongside her husband Jim, Dottie was instrumental in developing an adult reading program at the South Florida Community College.   During this time, she successfully completed her Master of Education degree. Having a passion for teaching, Dottie never ceased to learn herself.  She taught herself how to play the piano and was an accomplished seamstress. Dottie loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Her recipes are sought after. Dottie also discovered her passion for quilting. Her quilted masterpieces will be treasured by family and friends in her memory. Dottie is survived by her children, James (Shirley), David (Dawn), Tim (Sandy) and Lisa (Chris); siblings, Robert (Judy) and Sandy (Roland); four nieces, four grandnieces, four grandnephews; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services celebrating the life of Dottie will be held on October 31, 2022, at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, 4001 Sebring Parkway, Sebring, Florida 33870.  Visitation with family will begin at 11:00AM followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00PM officiated by Pastor Steven Trinkle and James Annis, Jr. The burial service will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 854 Memorial Drive, Avon Park, Florida 33825.
