Dorothea R. Lockard

Dorothea "Dottie" R. Lockard, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Sebring, FL. She was born in Queens, NY on August 1, 1926 to Henry and Amelia (Halzhausen) Rudolph. She was a graduate of Philadelphia College of Bible (now Cairn University) and Hahnemann Hospital of Nursing (now part of Drexel University). Dottie was a missionary nurse in Africa serving in Nigeria and Niger with SIM and later returned to the US working at SIM Headquarters in the Treasury Department. She married Bill Lockard in 1983 and they moved to SIM Sebring Retirement Village in 1984. The Lord took Bill home in 2003. She is survived by three step-daughters and two nieces. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in the SIM Chapel at 10:00 AM with visitation beginning in the chapel one hour before the service. A graveside service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens will follow at 11:30 AM. Dr. David Richardson will officiate. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Gifts for Missions at Berachah Church, 400 Ashbourne Road, Cheltenham, PA 19012.
