Doreen Shafer

Doreen Shafer, age 95, of Liverpool, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12.  Doreen was adored by everyone who met her and loved having family get togethers.  She always said how “lucky” she was when in fact we were the lucky ones to have had her in our lives.  Born in Perth, Ontario, Canada, Doreen was a graduate of Perth Collegiate Institute.  She married Robert Shafer in 1944 and they raised seven children.  She resided in Liverpool for 69 years.  She was the owner of The Antique Mart and Lake Drive Antiques for many years.  She was a communicant of St. Joseph The Worker Church, Liverpool.

Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Agnes Brady, eight brothers and sisters, her husband Robert A. Shafer, son Robert T. Shafer, daughter Linda Bernet, and daughter-in-law Karen Shafer.  Surviving are son Paul Shafer of Liverpool, four daughters Marylee Frysinger (Donald) of Liverpool, Joan Samsel (John) of Lake Arrowhead, CA, Carol Palladino (Michael) of Los Angeles, CA, Theresa Henty (James) of Liverpool, daughter-in-law Debbie Shafer of Escondido, CA, sisters-in-law Catherine Brady of Dartmouth, NS, and Teresa Shafer of Perth, ON, 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as her wonderful caregivers Sherry Johnson and Doris Nieczkowski.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a future date.
