age 87, departed this life on Thursday, September 24, 2015. She was born to Harry and Sallie Symons on October 8, 1927 in Hagerstown, Maryland. She grew up in Hagerstown and graduated high school in 1945. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Frostburg State Teachers College in 1949. She taught for two years in Hampstead, MD and then moved to Pennsylvania. She continued teaching in Springfield, PA as an elementary school teacher for another 18 years. She married Henry (Hank) Stouth in 1960. After Hank retired they moved to Sebring in 1988. They continued to "snowbird" between PA and FL until 1995 when they moved here permanently. After Hank died in 2003, Dorcas volunteered for Hospice. Dorcas is a member of St. John United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women and the Sunshine Circle. Hank and Dorcas did not have children but four young women and their families have given Dorcas much happiness during her last years. They are Debra Haugh, Anne Jenkins, Cindy Moats and Linda Stout. Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 26, 2015, 2:00pm at St. John United Methodist Church in Sebring with Reverend Ronald DeGenaro, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will take place at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park, FL immediately following the service.
