Donald Leo Martin

Donald Leo Martin, age 82, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 in Avon Park, Florida. He was born in Pyrites, New York to Sherman and Vera (Farr) Martin. He worked in construction most of his life until moving to Florida from Massena, New York in 1977. He held various jobs in the Highlands County area until retiring in 1988. At that time he and his wife, Barbara spent their time RVing until settling in Avon Park in 1995. During their 64 years of married life they visited every state in the union except Alaska and Hawaii as well as portions of Canada. He is survived by his wife-Barbara L. Martin of Avon Park, Florida; daughter-Ann Reeves (Joseph) of West Chazy, New York; son-Alan Martin of Franklin, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm (with wake beginning at 6:00 pm) in the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Nick McLoughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
