Donald Robert Johnston

Donald Robert Johnston, age 84 of Sebring, Florida, passed away on October 6, 2021, in Sebring, FL. Born January 29, 1937, in Northampton, Massachusetts, Mr. Johnston was the son of the late Donald Francis Johnston and Blandine G. (Poulin) Johnston. He lived in Easthampton, MA for 20 years, Pittsfield, MA for 10 years, Nashua, NH for 34 years and for the last 20 years, retired with his wife in Sebring, FL. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Julia Ann (Edmunds) (Marrin) Johnston; former spouse Nancy E. (Mendel) Gomes and husband Jack Gomes of Hernando, FL; sisters, Alice (Johnston) Brin, Pearl (Johnston) Gouin and her husband Roland Gouin of Bradenton, FL; son, Christopher Donald Johnston and wife, Jacqueline (Garcia) Johnston of Shalimar, FL; daughter, Bonnie Lynne (Johnston) Harrington and husband Glen Harrington of Pepperell, MA; stepson, Kenneth Eugene Marrin and wife Wendy Yun Miao of Melbourne Beach, FL; stepdaughters, Patricia Ann Marrin of Lynnfield, MA and Kathleen Marie Marrin (Gallagher) McCoy of Nashua, NH; grandsons, Christian Alexander Johnston Garcia of Layton, UT, Bryan Glen Harrington and wife Emily (Russell) Harrington of Pepperell, MA, Aaron Michael Harrington and wife Amy (Clement) Harrington of Townsend, MA, Great Grandson, Levon Carl Harrington of Townsend, MA, great granddaughter, Isla Mae Harrington of Pepperell, MA, step granddaughters, Hailey Marrin Gallagher of Nashua, NH; Meaghan Marie (Harper) Gesa of Jersey City, NJ; Michelle Miao Marrin and Elizabeth Rosalyn Marrin of Melbourne Beach, FL and step grandsons James Francis Gallagher III and Daniel Gregg McCoy IV of Nashua, NH. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Irene Johnston of Easthampton, MA, stepdaughter Jennifer J. Marrin of Lynn, MA, step grandson Matthew Joseph Harper of Nashua, NH and brother-in-law Kenneth Brin of Southampton, MA. He was educated in Easthampton, MA and graduated from Easthampton High School in 1956.  He was a graduate of the General Electric Company Mechanical Drafting apprenticeship in 1959.  He served in the Massachusetts Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve and was a licensed private pilot and member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and Nashua, the NH Civil Air Patrol for many years. Past employment consisted of General Electric Company in Pittsfield, MA; Sanders Associates in Nashua, NH; Centronics in Hudson, NH; Dataroyal in Nashua, NH; Facit in Merrimack, NH and he was self- employed as Delta Juliet Associates in Nashua, NH. Don was a mechanical engineer and loved his work. His greatest passions were flying and all things mechanical. His favorite hobbie included motor homing, motorcycling, auto racing, snowmobiling, boating, cross-country skiing and photography. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Humane Society in Sebring.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sebring, FL on November 10, 2021 at 11:00 am. An interment and Christian Mass will be celebrated in Nashua, NH at a date to be determined.
