DONALD IRVIN GAVONI Donald Irvin Gavoni, 79, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011, in Sebring. He was born February 4, 1932, to Raymond and Anita (Noci) Gavoni in Chicago, Illinois, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1981, coming from Chicago. He was a Firefighter for 46 years for the City of Chicago, where he was honored with the highest award for bravery, The Carter H. Harrison Award. After his move to Sebring, he served for 21 years as Chief of the Sun N Lake Fire Department. He attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL. He is survived by his wife, Helen Julia Gavoni; daughter, Laura (Eduardo) Ramirez; son, Donald P. (Barbara) Gavoni, all of Sebring; sister, Marlene Cali of Palm Coast, FL; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John R. Gavoni. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011, at Stephenson-Nelson Chapel, Sebring, with Father Nicholas McLoughlin officiating. The family will receive friends the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10:00. Entombment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, will be immediately following the service.
