Donald E. Hall, age 95, of Sebring, FL, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 8, 2025. He was born to the late Rexford Hall and Wanda Wheeler Hall of Susquehanna, PA. He trusted Christ as his Savior during revival meetings at the First Baptist Church in Susquehanna. Following graduation from Susquehanna High School in 1947, he prepared for the Lord’s work at Practical Bible Training School. He served with SIM as a missionary educator in Nigeria, Ghana, and a short term in Ethiopia. He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Sebring, FL, and a longtime member of the Little White Church, Conklin, NY, where he served as a deacon. He was interim pastor of the South Owego Bible Church, Owego, NY, on two different occasions.
With a loving wife’s encouragement and God’s precious provision, he earned degrees at Cedarville University, Central State University, Syracuse University, and a doctorate at the University of Colorado. Higher education opened doors of ministry he could not have dreamed of. Stateside, during a leave of absence from SIM, he served as a vice president at Davis College, Johnson City, NY, department head at Columbia International University, Columbia, SC, and as a writer and editor for Accent Publications, Denver, CO.
He enjoyed working with people, especially working one-on-one with students, encouraging them to strive toward higher levels. He also specialized in taking on new projects and seeing them through to completion. His areas of concentration were organization, administration, curriculum development, and accreditation.
In his retirement, Don stayed busy in the ministry, teaching Sunday School, writing full-length Sunday School courses, preaching at a local prison, writing book reviews for BookNotes for Africa, writing family history, and publishing three novels.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and his son, Daniel G. Hall. He is survived by his son, Dean and Lanni Hall of Sebring, FL; daughters, John and Nancy Hall DeValve of Xenia, OH; Duane and Natalie Hall Wilkins of Sebring, FL; eight grandchildren, Jason Hall, Robert Hall, Nathan and Alesha Wilkins Vines, Nathan and Erika Wilkins Gould, Jeremiah and Heather Wilkins, Daniel and Kelly DeValve, Theo and Suzanne DeValve Hines, and Jake Nie Hall; sister-in-law, Gerri Hall of Susquehanna, PA; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Don will be laid to rest at a later date in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.
