Donald R. Bond, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Sebring, Florida. He was born on November 8, 1928 to the late Lyal G. and Florence C. (West) Bond. Donald was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He and his wife, Vivian, served as missionaries in Peru for 46 years. They were members of the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. He retired to Sebring in 2003 from Binghamton, New York and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church of Sebring where he was very active. Even after retirement he and Vivian traveled extensively around the globe teaching and preaching for about 10 years. He served as chaplain at the Avon Park Correctional Institute. Donald was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his children: Steve Bond (Patricia)-Glen Burnie, MD, Linda M. Bond-Sebring, FL, Diane K. Large (Andrew)-Nicaragua, Deborah A. Douglas (Stephen)-Peru; brothers: Duane A. Bond (Josie) Winter Park, FL, Scott A. Bond (Chris)-NY; sister: Sandi Mandarano (Bart)-NY; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. There will be a funeral service on Monday, January 30, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring with Reverend Terry Price officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to ABWE, P.O.
