Don Edward Dennis

Don Edward Dennis passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 in Avon Park, Florida at the age of 86. The son of Newton Edward and Fern Atlanta (Barlow) Dennis. Don was born on May 7, 1937 in Parker City, Indiana. He retired in 1999 from Asplundh Tree Expert Company as a Manager/Vice President.  Don was a resident of Highlands County since 2005, having come from Bella Vista, AR and was of Methodist faith. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor and was a member of the VFW, a proud member of the Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite and obtained the rank of 33rd Degree. His hobbies included golf, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and hockey, the Rays and Lightning were among his favorites. He is survived by his loving sons, Scott Dennis (Sandra) of Ripley, TN; Kipp Dennis (Stacie) of Belize; sister Joan Hiatt (Don) of Parker City, IN. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Leigh Schultz of Washington, Brooke Comer (Devon) of Washington, Matthew Dennis (Charlotte) of Tennessee, Alyssa Sparks (Cory) of Tennessee and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn who passed away in 2018. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday June 29, 2023 with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, Florida.
