Dolores Jean Sassin

Dolores Jean Sassin (Dee), of Sebring, Florida, passed away on June 7, 2025 at the age of 85. She was born on November 2, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Steven and Rosalie Obuchowski.

A woman of strong faith and love for her family, Dolores was deeply involved in the St. James Catholic church community (Lake Placid, FL). She loved to bake cookies, and was known as “Cookie Grandma” by many. Dolores adored her grandchildren, and loved spending every second she could with them. When she wasn’t volunteering at church or spending time with her grand kids, she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, and helping prepare meals in the kitchen. Dolores will be deeply missed and loved by all who had the good fortune to know her.

She is survived by her two sons: Daniel (Patti) Sassin (Sebring, FL); Joe (Chari) Sassin (Wellington, FL) her sister Sharon Obuchowski (Michigan); and her three grandchildren, Alec, Tyler, and Benjamin Sassin.

There will be a memorial service at St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid, Florida on Saturday, June 28th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Dolores to the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization of Palm Beach, Florida by clicking the gold box below.
