Dinah J Nelson

Dinah J. Nelson, age 89, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 in Sebring, FL. She was born on June 8, 1927 in Eastover, SC to the late Willie J. and Georgia A. (Wilson) Sumpter. Dinah had been a resident of Avon Park since 1962 having come from South Carolina. She worked in Agriculture and was a member of the Carolina Church of Christ. Dinah enjoyed watching football, Maury, Price is Right, and she loved to cook. Dinah was a people person who never met a stranger. She loved people and always kept a smile on her face. Dinah always wanted her family together and put her trust in the Lord. She is survived by her husband: Richard L. Nelson; children: Annie Washington (Norris) of Avon Park; Dorothy Stephens (Jeremiah) of Avon Park; Brenda Gasque (Leroy) of Andrews, SC; Willie J. Nelson of Avon Park; Richard C. Nelson of Avon Park; sister: Harrietha Nesnith (Jerome) of Andrew, SC; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; special friend: Joe Muller; and a host of nieces and nephews. Dinah was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother: Pearl Josephine Sumpter; brother: Clarence Sumpter (Diane); and child: Robert Nelson (Tracy). A visitation for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Church of Christ on Fred Conner Street in Avon Park with a Funeral Service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park.
