Delores E Johnson

Delores E. “Dee” Johnson of Sebring, Florida, made her transition on December 12, 2017, at Lake Placid Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lake Placid, FL.  De was born August 4, 1932 in Cokato, Minnesota, to Edward and Martha Rosella (Monson) Johnson.  She was confirmed in Cokato Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Dee graduated in 1950, from Cokato High School, worked as a nurse’s aide in the local hospital for two years, moved to Minneapolis in 1952, and worked five years at First National Bank.  In 1957, Dee moved to Miami, FL to enjoy sunshine, warm weather, nature, and many camping trips.  While living in Miami for 23 years, she was employed at Coulter Electronics and Cordis Corporation as Purchasing and Inventory Control Supervisor.  Tavernier, FL on Key Largo was also home for 3 years.  In 1980, Dee moved to Sebring, FL and was employed by the State of Florida, Highlands County Environmental Health Department as an Environmental Health Specialist where she retired in 1994.  She became involved in volunteer work with the Church Service Center, Highlands Hammock State Park, Civil Air Patrol, and a caregiving service for seniors.  From 2002-2006, she was in charge of the food room and weekend meals at the Sun Room Senior Center.  In 2008, Dee became a member of Unity of Sebring and was active in various activities.  She was so thankful for her leader and teacher, Rev. Andy Conyer.  Dee is survived by her sister, Joann L. Lind of Cokato, MN (now Buffalo, MN); nieces: Lori J. Anderson (Glen) of North Branch, MN; Julie L. Cordie (Brian) of Helena, MT; nephew, David M. Lind of Montrose, MN; five great nieces and nephews and their children; and long-time companion, Marlene Marchant of Sebring, FL.  She is warmly remembered by her many friends.  A celebration of life service will be held at Unity of Sebring Life Enrichment Center, Sebring, FL, later in January.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unity of Sebring Life Enrichment Center, 10417 S. Orange Blossom Blvd., Sebring, FL  33875, and the Humane Society of Highlands County, PO Box 833, Sebring, FL  33871.
