Sebring

Dell Edward Kinney, 71, of Sebring, FL, peacefully entered the presence of his heavenly Father on January 5, 2025. Born on December 11, 1953, in Freeport, IL, Dell was the beloved son of the late Delmont and Norma Kinney.

In 2015, Dell and his cherished wife, June, moved to Sebring, FL, from Park Ridge, IL, embracing a vibrant new chapter of their lives. He was an active member of  Bible Fellowship Church in Sebring, and recently became a Deacon.  Dell was an advocate for positive change in his community and a member of The Bluff’s Men’s Golf Club.

Dell’s calling as a pastor defined much of his life. He devoted himself to the reading, studying, and sharing of the Word of God.  After graduating from Bible College, he started Davis Baptist Church in his home town of Davis, Il.   He inspired countless individuals with his passion for the Gospel. He was also a skilled craftsman and later in his life he worked as project manager, in his son Joe’s construction company.  He loved building projects and working with his hands. His boundless energy, charisma, and gift for connecting with others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Dell was a man of many talents and joys. He loved outdoor pursuits such as  fishing, hunting, and hiking. He was an avid golfer, and  achieved every golfer’s dream of a hole-in-one. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir and playing his trumpet. He was a proud graduate of Grand Rapids Baptist College and Dallas Theological Seminary, Dell’s intellectual curiosity and steadfast faith were central to his life.

Above all, Dell was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Married to June for nearly 11 wonderful years; their love and partnership was a blessing to all who witnessed it. He is survived by his wife, June Kinney; children: Joe Kinney (Pearl) of Roscoe, IL, Philip Kinney (Jen) of Detroit, MI, Emily Millward (Joe) of Traverse City, MI, and Elizabeth Anderson (Steve) of Traverse City, MI; siblings: Sue Janssen (Bill) of Lanark, IL, Bonnie Strong (Kurt) of Freeport, IL, Michelle Ceroni (Steve) of Rock City, IL, and Tami Price (Greg) of Davis, IL; and 15 cherished grandchildren.

Dell will be remembered for his devotion, faithfulness, and the joy he brought to everyone he met. His legacy as a loving family man, man of faith, and  servant of the Lord will live on in the hearts of many. Dell’s life was a testimony of faith, love, and service. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
