Clyde Starling

Clyde Starling, age 98, of Avon Park, FL passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Somer's Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, FL. He was born March 15, 1916 in Lawtey, Florida to Andrew Jackson and Esther (Griffis) Starling. He was the Owner & Operator of the Starling City Market in Avon Park, FL for 25 years, then operating Starling's Produce out of his home in Avon Park for another 20 years. Clyde was an avid quail hunter, member of the Florida Avenue Baptist Church, and has been a resident of Avon Park, FL since 1941, coming from Lawtey, FL. He is survived by his Son - Leroy Starling (Mary), 8 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great Great Grandchildren, and beloved dog - Bruno. He was preceded in death by his Parents - Andrew and Esther Starling; Wife - Lucille; Daughter - Norma Jean; Son - Johnny; and a Grandson - Smokey. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Florida Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. John Girdley officiating with interment following in the Bougainvillea Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870.
