Clarabelle Jean Riggle

C. Jean Riggle, aged 91, of Brazil, Indiana died Wednesday morning, March 25, 2020 at her winter home in Lake Placid, Florida.

Jean was born September 20, 1928 in Clinton, Indiana to Otto and Alberta (Bertha) Ippen Moore.  Jean married Vernon Lee Riggle on October 13, 1945 shortly after he returned from serving in World War II.  They had three children- Donald Lee, Regina Sue and Cathy Lynn.  Jean raised her children and worked for over ten years at Columbia Records in Terre Haute and later with the Butts Pell Auction Company in Brazil.  However, the work most important to Jean was the loving care she bestowed on her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.  Jean delighted in having a houseful of kids and was at her happiest when feeding and entertaining the children who loved her. She loved being out of doors and was often seen working in her yard or on her front porch swing.

She is survived by daughters; Regina (Tim) Paullus and  Cathy (Bob) Lyon, both of Brazil, IN; Daughter-in-Law: Anita Riggle, Brazil, IN

Grandchildren:Brad (Traci) Riggle, Stacey Riggle (Troy) Humphreys, Sheryl Riggle Cox, Kim Riggle (Daniel Lunsford) Mullinix and Shawn Riggle, Chris (Amy) Paullus, Eric (Claire) Paullus, Jamie (Derecia) Paullus, Sara Lyon (John) Neyer, and Aaron Lyon. 27 Great Grandchildren: 23 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Alberta (Bertha) Ippen Moore: husband Vernon; son: Don; siblings; Ivan, Wayne, Milo, Carl, Gordan, Louise Chaney, Frances Gibbons, Charlotte Sickler, and Wilhelmina Cooper.

Jean was cremated in Florida and will be laid to rest beside her husband, Vernon, at the Bee Ridge Cemetery with a service to be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Hospice of your choice.
