C.Lamar Heath, age 89, passed away at home on Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Sebring, FL after a battle with cancer. Born September 22, 1931, he was the youngest son of John Curtis and Bernice Seay Heath. Lamar served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War and after his honorable discharge, he attended the University of South Carolina. After graduating, he worked for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board as a savings and loan examiner, rising to the position of District Director for the Southern District. His early retirement allowed him to enjoy life and time with his loving wife, Karin, traveling the country and pursuing their shared interest in antiquing, history, and in seeing as much of the country as they could.
Lamar was a man that was strongly opinionated and did not suffer fools lightly, but he would never back down from a cause that was important to him and he would go out of his way to quietly assist those that needed help. He was a good man and a good human being. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, learning how to create the best vegetable garden ever, and becoming a master of restoring antique radios. And nothing could put a smile on his face faster than watching children just being children.
Lamar was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Charles and Curtis. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karin Herz Heath of Sebring, FL; his children – Heather Heath (Bryan Thompson) of Brunswick, GA; Mark Heath of Reno, NV; Lisa Jinkins (Jim) of Brevard, NC; Kathryn Heath of Seattle, WA; his sister, Mary Jane Reblin of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren, Rose and Heath Jinkins of Brunswick, GA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private remembrance will be held at a later date when all family can be together. The family requests no flowers to be sent but suggests donations be sent to the Mount Dora Children’s Home, 301 W 13 th Avenue, Mount Dora, FL 32757, in Lamar’s name.
