In loving memory and admiration: Christy Kay Clark Reed, affectionately known as “Cici,” a bold and brilliant woman of unshakable faith and strength passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the age of 73 years old in Sebring. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, visionary, public servant, and a trailblazer whose legacy will continue to inspire. A lifelong resident of Highlands County, she was born on November 22, 1951, in Avon Park, Florida to Christopher “Kit” Clark and Anne Mae (Green) Clark. The Clark family were pioneers in the Lorida community as owners of the Lorida General Store where Christy grew up sorting soda bottles, helping her Daddy cut and wrap meat, and her favorite chore of catching the mail train since her mother was the Postmaster for many years. Christy dedicated over 35 years of service to the Highlands County community. She began her career as a dispatcher for Highlands County Sheriff’s Department then moved to the typing pool at Road and Bridge for the Board of County Commissioners. With determination and integrity, she was the driving force behind the inaugural county wide recycling program later becoming the Recycling Coordinator and Assistant Solid Waste Director. Her attention to every detail, her love of music and travel, her gift to never meet a stranger and always make everyone welcome in her home drew others to the love of Christ that was evident in her servant leadership at Restoration Church of the Highlands where she served as an elder and worship leader.
In honoring her life, we remember a woman who had influence and wisdom beyond her years. Her spirit, strength, faith, perseverance, and boundless love will live on in her only daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Reed – Chase (Joseph) of Paris, Tennessee. Granddaughters Annabella Elizabeth, Abigail Grace, Aubree Reign Marrero, and bonus granddaughters Taylor Nicole and Ashley Jo Chase. Christy is preceded in death by her loving parents and sister, Elizabeth Anne Clark Williams.
