Chester Mansfield Smith III, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Avon Park, Florida. He was born on December 8, 1945, in Danbury, Connecticut, to the late Chester and Rita Smith.
Chester proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, embodying dedication and patriotism. After his service, he built a meaningful career as a gas operator with the Utilities Department.
In 2016, Chester and his wife Carolann moved to Avon Park, Florida, where he embraced the warm weather and his passion for the outdoors. An avid golfer and an active member of the Highlands Ridge Golf Club, Chester also enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and crafting models. His adventurous spirit extended to travel, where he found joy exploring new places.
For 20 years, Chester was a crew member with Marcus Brothers Racing, where his love for cars and camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts flourished. As a Catholic, he lived his life with faith and compassion. Chester’s humor and charisma left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Known as a jokester, he loved “busting chops” and bringing laughter into the lives of others. Yet, behind the humor was a devoted family man—a wonderful husband, an attentive father, and an awesome grandfather who cherished every moment with his loved ones.
