Charles Ray Smith, age 88 passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Sebring, Florida. Mr. Smith was born in Langston, Alabama on August 15, 2013 to Charlie C. and Annie (Mckenzie) Smith. Mr. Smith worked in the Cement Industry, he served in the United States Navy during World War II, he attended the Community Bible Church, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening and spending time with family and friends, he had been a resident of Avon Park since 1985 coming from Miami, Florida. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 67 years-Mary Smith of Avon Park, Florida; children-John Smith (Sharon) of Cortez, Georgia, Robert Smith (Margaret) of Miami Springs, Florida, James Smith of Avon Park, Florida and Kathy Hardwick (Howard) of Avon Park, Florida; daughter-in-law-Eileen Smith of Sebring, Florida; 2 sisters and 1 brother; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Schankweiler officiating.
