Charles “Chuck” David Fluharty, age 86, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born August 4, 1940 in Rivesville, West Virginia to Glen Leroy and Edith Ruth (Hunter) Fluharty. Chuck worked in telecommunications for United Telephone/Sprint/Embarq, holding several different positions, then retiring as a Central Office Engineer. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and was of Methodist Faith. He has been a resident of Sebring, Florida since 1973, coming from West Virginia. Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his Wife – Kathy Fluharty of Sebring, FL; Children – Kim Fluharty Denson (Max) of St. Theresa, FL; Stephen Winegard (Theresa) of Port St. Lucie, FL; Christina Hill (Travis) of Sebring, FL; Brothers – James Tennant of Fairview, WV; Jake Toothman of Fairview, WV; 4 Grandchildren – Jesse; Logan; Kalyn; and Rhett, as well as many friends who were like family. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM with family receiving friends beginning at 10:00 AM at Whispering Pines Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Highlands County Sheriff’s Office designated for the “HCSO Youth Camp” and mailed to 400 S. Eucalyptus St Sebring, FL 33870 Attn: Cindy Ritenour.
