Cathey Elaine Denton

Cathey Denton, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. She was born on August 6, 1951, in Granite City, Illinois, to Leo Columbus Evans and Alma Dean (Taylor) Evans.

Cathey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mike Denton, and her sisters, Mary Rhodes and Deanna Eisele. She is survived by and a cherished sister of Mike Evans (Maggie), Tony Evans (Lisa), Rickey Evans (Freda), Judy Owen, and Connie Evans.

Cathey was also a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Angela Ellis (Brian Smith), both of Cantonment, Florida. She was a wonderful Nana to her three grandchildren, Matthew Ellis (Maria), Elizabeth Ellis, and Kyle Smith, as well as her great-grandchild, Michael, with another great-granddaughter on the way. Cathey had a strong work ethic and retired from a long and fulfilling career at Rio Tinto Alcan in Sebree, Kentucky. Cathey succeeded at living life to its fullest by making memories with the love of her life, Mike, along with family and many friends.

Cathey had a true passion for singing, camping, and entertaining everyone she encountered. She had an infectious laugh that warmed everyone’s hearts better than the Florida sun that she so loved. Cathey Denton's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will continue to inspire and guide us. May she rest in eternal peace.
