Carolyn Stevens was called home to her eternal rest on February 6, 2019 at 12:45 am. She was born on January 12, 1949 in Miami, Florida. She was the sixth child of nine children born to the union of the late Cline Washington Stevens and Candace Stevens. She was educated in the public school of E.O. Douglas in Sebring, Florida. She graduated in June of 1967.
Soon after her graduation, she moved to New York City, where she worked on several jobs. She united with the Union Baptist Church in 1990 and in 2015 she received a certificate of appreciation for 25 years of dedicated service to the church. On September 16, 1994, she retired from NYNEX Telephone Company, where she worked for 25 years. After retiring, Carolyn worked in the church office as a receptionist. In addition, she loved to share her talent of decorating for many of the church affairs and at A. Philip Randolph Senior Center, where she volunteered her time. She would often provide music for these special occasions with her portable tape player. She kept a beautiful collection of all kinds of music. Carolyn was an ardent bowler and enjoyed spending time with friends.
Mourning her death are her brother, Willie Lee Stevens of Riverside, California; sister, Florence D. Sanchez of Sebring, Florida; three aunts: Ula Adams of Indian Town, Florida, Thelma Seay and Ruth Wilson, both of Pahokee, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
