Carmine A. Fillie, Sr.

Carmine “Slick” Anthony Fillie, Sr., age 74, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away Saturday, April 9 ^th, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 2, 1947, to Anthony and Anna Fillie in Waterbury, CT. He was an avid bass fisherman and like all good Italian men, he loved to cook.

Slick was preceded in death by his Father - Anthony; Mother - Anna; and his Brother - Frank. He is survived by his Wife of 48 years - Diane; four Sons - Carmine Jr., Michael (Joan), Jon (Jaime), and Phil (Nikki); Daughter - Theresa; Four Brothers - Tony (Chris), Bob (Donna), Phil (Vita), and Lou; 9 Grandchildren; and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

At Slick’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, the family will be holding a private Celebration of Life to honor him.

If someone should ask for me,
tell ’em heaven is where I’ll be.
I’ve finished all my life’s chores,
and now I fish on heaven’s shores.

The view is grand and the fishing’s great,
but I yearn for you as I wait.
I’ll save a spot on the river’s bend,
for all those, I call family and friend.

But for now, head to the Manistee
and make a cast in memory,
to all the good times that you had,
with me- your friend, your grandpa…your dad.

And if the fish no longer bite
or seem no longer worth the fight,
’cause it’s me that you are missin’,
don’t worry – be happy – I’ve gone fishin’.
