BURNESS GOERTZ Burness Goertz, 93, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011, in Sebring. She was born December 30, 1917, to Henry and Luella (Van Raden) Kampen in Forreston, Illinois, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1986, coming from Forreston. She was a Missionary with SIM, joining in 1946 and serving in Nigeria and Niger working in guesthouses and schools as Missionary Hostess and also taught Childrens Bible classes. She retired from SIM in 1982 and was a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Sebring. Burness is survived by her husband, Sam Goertz of Sebring; step-daughter, Lois Steele, Albemarle, NC; step-son, Timothy Goertz, Wilmington, DE; sisters, Phyllis Mennenga, Forreston IL and Marguerite Green, Lenark, IL; 8 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the SIM Fellowship Hall in Sebring. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the SIM Chapel with Dr. Eugene Bengtson officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL.
