Brona L. (Hobbs) Daub

Brona L. (Hobbs-Viehmeyer) Daub passed away peacefully on October 10, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born January 20, 1932 in Quincy, IL to Alton B. and Dorothea E.(Wells) Hobbs. She graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1949 then attended Gem City Business College focusing on coursework in bookkeeping/accounting and secretarial skills. She married Jim Viehmeyer in 1951, they divorced in 1971. She worked for the Quincy Public School District for 25 years (Irving Elementary and later Quincy Junior High) as an administrative assistant, retiring in 1987. After retirement, she moved to Temple Terrace, Florida where she was employed as bookkeeper/accountant for Air Components and Equipment Co. In 1996 she married A.W. (Bill) Daub then relocated to Sebring, Florida and volunteered for the Florida Hospital Gift Shop and the Volunteer Organization as the bookkeeper; she was also the photographer for the newborn babies at the hospital, which she delighted in doing. Brona was an avid golfer, and enjoyed competitive tennis winning trophies in singles and mixed doubles. Her hobbies included bowling, dancing, reading and sewing. Her love of golf led her to join the "Margarita Mamas" women's golf group of Woodhaven Estates of Sebring and she enjoyed organizing their outings for many years. Brona was a long time member of the USTA(United States Tennis Association) and Heartland Christian Church. She is survived by her Husband - A.W. (Bill) Daub of Sebring, FL; Children - Maria (Rick) Vogel of Ft. Worth, TX; Marty (Patti) Viehmeyer of Quincy, IL; 5 Grandchildren: Zachary Vogel of Rockwall, TX, Casey Vogel of Trophy Club, TX, Ryan (Julie) Viehmeyer of Camp Point, IL, Katie (Jimmy) Merkel of St. Peters, MO, Nicholas Viehmeyer of St. Louis, MO; 3 Great Grandchildren: Kylie and Aubrey Viehmeyer and Brynlee Merkel; and beloved nephews, nieces and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law - Richard A. (Dick) and Louise Hobbs, and a nephew, Ray David Hobbs. A memorial service for immediate family will be held at a later date. There will be a reception held in her honor for family and friends on January 20, 2016, 6:30pm at Sunset Grill, Sebring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (www.michaeljfox.org).
