Bevan Spurgent Christie

BEVAN SPURGENT CHRISTIE Bevan Spurgent Christie, 89, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 in Sebring. He was born June 10, 1920, to George and Henrietta (Lynch) Christie in Gibraltar, Jamaica and had been a resident of Sebring since 1993, coming from Miami, Florida. He graduated from High School in Kingston, Jamaica and later received a scholarship to attend Leeds University in Leeds, England, where he graduated. He was an Accountant with the Government, retiring in 1992 and loved gardening, tennis and watching the Miami Dolphins play. He was a very active member of Spring Lake Baptist Church, where he served as an Usher and Greeter and member of the Choir. He is survived by his Wife, Beryl Christie of Sebring; Daughter, Grace Jill Christie, Sebring and three Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Son, Mark Christie in 1984 and eight Brothers and Sisters. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring. Funeral services will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Spring Lake Baptist Church, Pastor Richard Schermerhorn officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Miami, at 3:00 p.m. Friends may make memorial contributions to Spring Lake Baptist Church, 7408 Valencia Road, Sebring, Fl 33876.
