Betty Lou Wiley, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, , passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on August 22, 1941, in Lake Hamilton, Florida, she was the cherished daughter of the late William and Gladys Varnadoe.
Betty lived a full and vibrant life, and since 1983, she had called Sebring, Florida, her home. She was a devoted member of the Baptist Church of Lake Josephine, where her faith brought her strength and comfort throughout her life.
Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband of more than six decades, Earl Lavon Wiley, with whom she shared a beautiful love story that began in high school, where Betty was a cheerleader and Earl captured her heart. Their enduring bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. She is also survived by her son, LaDon Wiley, of Lake Placid; her siblings, Sharon Thomas, Sara Neil, Ervin Varnadoe, and Emmett Varnadoe; her granddaughter, LaVonna Kachik; and her great-grandchildren, Conner Wiley and Tyler Kachik. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, David Wiley.
Betty had a passion for cooking and loved entertaining friends and family, always making her home a warm and welcoming place. She also held a deep love for college football and was a proud fan of the University of Florida Gators, cheering them on with enthusiasm. Her kind heart, generous spirit, and radiant smile will be forever missed. She will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A service to honor Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist of Lake Josephine, Pastor Stephen Ahrens officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to First Baptist of Lake Josephine.
