Betty Sumner Pate

Betty Sumner Pate went home to the Lord on February 23, 2018. She was born in Bradenton, Florida, on March 17, 1937, to Willie Joe Sumner and Janie Louise Bland Sumner. Betty had been a resident of Avon Park, Florida, since 1965, after moving from Lake Wales, Florida. She enjoyed many interests including crafts, cooking, genealogy and attending church, but, most of all, she loved her family. She is survived by her sons, Michael Pate of Avon Park, Florida, and Brian Pate and his wife, Lymari, of Oviedo, Florida; brother Larry Sumner of Lakeland, Florida, and her three grandchildren. Betty was preceded by her husband, Lawrence “Gator” Pate, her parents, and her siblings Barbara Sproul, Frank Sumner, and Terry Sumner. A funeral service will be held in her honor at the First Baptist Church of Avon Park on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest following the service at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park, Florida.
