Betty Jean Ghassemi, age 75, of Avon Park, Florida passed away surrounded by loved ones at her home on Monday evening, September 2, 2024. Betty was born on November 22,1948, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, daughter of the late Kenneth and Maxine Wallace. As part of a large family, Betty and her siblings learned early on the value of hard work and love. Pillars that would serve her well throughout her life. Eventually Betty finished school and joined the workforce. Already a very good cook, she found steady employment doing just that. She was a hard worker, and many times held multiple jobs, doing whatever it took to make ends meet. In her free-time, she also developed what would become a lifelong interest in art. Like most, her years were not without their challenges. She experienced great happiness and dealt with her share of sorrow. But regardless of the circumstances, she always remained that same, kind, easy going person; that always had a smile. Later, after her children had moved out and raised children of their own, Betty travelled with them to the Sebring area. There, she loved spending her time gardening, laughing and playing games with the family, caring for her animals, creating arts & crafts with her grandkids and visiting others. She will be deeply missed! Betty is survived by her four children, DeEtt Nelson and her husband, Robert, of Port St. Lucie, FL, Monica West of Lake Placid, FL, Amir Ghassemi and his wife, Colleen, of Avon Park, FL, and Sarah Davidson of Sebring, FL; her nine grandchildren, Tabitha Lane, Courtney Lane, Austin Kirby, Journey Baumgartner, Anthony Hernandez, Nina Ghassemi, Izzy Ghassemi, Anastasya McConniel and Alexander McConniel; her brothers, Bobby Wallace and his wife, Ida, of Hollywood, FL, and Eddie Nickelson of Hollywood, FL; and her sister, Pamela Leza of Spring, TX She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Maxine Wallace; her sisters, Nina Wallace and Sharon Fischer; and her brothers, William Wallace and Kenneth Wallace Jr.
