Bernice Ivy Preble, age 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Sebring, Florida. She was born to Fred and Minnie Preble in Rutland, North Dakota but grew up in Wisconsin with two sisters and a brother. After accepting the Lord as her Savior, a missionary spoke in her church and Bernice felt led to go to Africa. She spent thirty years in the country of Ethiopia in East Africa with most of her time managing Her Majesty's Children's Home in Addis, Ababa. Many of these children grew up to be doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers, preachers, etc. She retired and came to the SIM Retirement Village in 2006. Bernice is survived by an adopted son, Tom (Tameret) Mersha. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Arlene Preble and Myrtle Morgan, a brother, Raymond Preble and an adopted daughter, Sara Hilesselassa. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the SIM Chapel in Sebring, Florida.
