Bernard Martin Hermsen

Bernard Martin Hermsen (Bernie) passed away peacefully of natural causes on Monday, November 6, 2023 in Sebring, Florida at the age of 103. He was born on June 12, 1920 in Little Chute, Wisconsin and was a lifelong member of the Catholic church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and worked in sales and management positions in the advertising industry for the L.M. Berry Company until he retired. His hobbies included golfing, woodworking and remaking old clocks. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Barbara Fischer, of Glenview, Illinois; daughter Karen Ann Hermsen (Dan Pitchers) of Sebring, Florida; son David Lee Hermsen (Mary), of Louisville, Kentucky; Mary’s son Michael Quinn (Liana) and daughter Khadija, of Louisville; Barbara’s children – daughter Janet Fischer (Kirk Klimkow), of Evanston, Illinois and sons Peter Klimkow (Elizabeth Buckton), of Chicago, Illinois and Michael Klimkow, of San Francisco; son Joseph Fischer (Elisa), of Chicago, and sons William Fischer (Jessica), of New York City, New York and Douglas Martin Fischer, of  Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is also survived by sisters Imelda Kandler, of Little Chute and Marjorie Miller, of Appleton, Wisconsin; brother-in-law James Gossens (Eilleen) and other relatives. Bernie was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty years, Dolores (Gossens), parents George and Anna Hermsen; brothers Joseph, Paul and Gerald, sisters Mary, Joan, Lorraine, and Rosalie, and other relatives. A celebration of life will be held in Little Chute at a later date.
