Benedicto Nerys

Benedicto Nerys, 63, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in Sebring, Florida. He was born August 20, 1949, to Agapito and Maria (Marrero) Nerys in San Juan, Puerto Rico and had been a resident of Lake Placid since 1994, coming from Rockaway Queens, New York and had been employed as a Maintenance Director. He was the Salsa King of Highlands County and enjoyed fishing, gardening, remodeling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Magali Nerys; daughters, Crystal (Terry) Leftwich, Wesley Chapel, FL; Alice (Brian) Meeks, Sebring and Benita (Dan) Leavelle, Sebring; sisters, Maria Navarro and Angelina Mercado; brothers, Victor Nerys; Raymond Nerys and Jose Nerys; grandchildren, Lynn; Tyana; Karisa and Kayla; two great-grandchildren and four grand dogs. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, with Alex Andino officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL, will be immediately following the service.
