Barney R. Stokes

Barney R. Stokes, age 92, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022 in Sebring, FL. He was born on June 5, 1929 in Ft. Meade, FL to Barney R. and Elizabeth (Newlan) Stokes. Barney was as an electrical contractor and owner of Stokes Electric. He was of the Christian faith. He had been a resident of Sebring since 1969, coming from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is survived by his loving children, Susan Podwils of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Vicki Calder (Bob) of Davie, FL; siblings, Elizabeth Shumaker; Del Porter and Cheryl Jones. Surviving are 3 grandchildren, Emily (John), Luc, Darlyn; 4 great grandchildren Stephen, Summer (Eric ), Coralie, Luca, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley, his parents, sister Miriam, brother Michael, son-in-law Don Podwils; grandchildren, Donnie, Logan and Cade. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Homeland Cemetery.
