Barbara S. Bower

Barbara S. Bower, age 93, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 in Avon Park, Florida. Mrs. Bower was born in Arlington, Virginia to Philip O. and Shirley B. (Lewis) Shepherd. Mrs. Bower was a Teacher, member of Highlands County Retired Educators, former member of Ridge Rollaways Square Dance Club, she was a member of Union Congregational Church and had been a resident of Avon Park since 1981 coming from Manassa, Virginia. Mrs. Bower is survived by her son-John F. Bower, III (Connie) of Concord, North Carolina; brother-Donald Shepherd (Leola) of Kingston, Tennessee; grandsons-Jonathan and Michael and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years-John F. Bower, Jr. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Union Congregational Church with Rev. Bill Breylinger officiating.
