Arlen R. Puckett

ARLEN R. PUCKETT Arlen Russell Puckett of Lake Placid, FL journeyed into the arms and eternal comfort of the Lord on May 4, 2012. He was born September 26, 1932 in Mt. Vernon, IL, son of Russell and Alma Puckett who preceded him in passing as well as grandson Nicholas Puckett. In 1990, Arlen retired as executive vice president of Barnett Bank of Tampa and made Lake Plaid his home, which served as his platform for the extensive travel of this country he loved. For many years he visited every state and Canada camping in virtually every national park, spending and enjoying his time photographing the hills, valleys, deserts and natural beauty of Gods creation. Arlens fascination for the old west was reflected in his photography, as well as his extensive collection of classic western movies. As a voracious reader, Arlen had a broad range of literary interests from classic Hemingway to the southern humor of Lewis Grizzard. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon, and his seven children: Karen (Randy) McFarland, Bloomington, IL; Teresa (Russ) Allan, Deltona, FL; Robin (Steve) Stokes, Orlando, FL; Diane (John) Napierski, Mesa, AZ; Jeff Puckett, Lake Placid, FL; Kelly (Lisa) Puckett, Orlando, FL; Kim (Joann) Puckett, McKinney, TX. Also surviving are step-daughters Debbie (Harvey) Turnage, Mt. Dora, FL and Dehan Cramer, Tampa, FL; sisters Darlene Walker, Waukegan, IL; Phyllis (Clyde) Patterson, Dunnellon, FL and brothers Thomas Atchison, Mt. Vernon, IL and Bradley (Barbara) Atchison, Ina, FL, 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid, FL with Pastor Claude Burnett and Pastor Fred Ball officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service.
