AMMON EUGENE ECKEL Ammon Eugene Eckel, 92, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in Sebring. He was born September 9, 1917, to Ammon Eugene and Edith (Johnson) Eckel in Renovo, Pennsylvania, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1980, coming from Pennsylvania. He was Supervisor of Equipment for the Railroad; was Past Master of Renovo Lodge F & AM; member of Scottish Rite Valley of Williamsport; Past President of Sebring Hi-12; Past President of Sebring Hills Association and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 14 years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting and attended St. Agnes Episcopal Church. Mr. Eckel is survived by his Wife of 71 years, Sara Mae (Probst) Eckel, Sebring; Daughter, Sally Velt, Sterling, VA; Grandchildren, Tanya Gossett, Fredericksburg, VA; Gregory Velt, Falls Church, VA and Geoffrey Velt, Clifton, VA and Great-Grandchildren Aiden Gossett; A.J. Gossett and Hannah Velt. Memorial Services will be held in Renovo, PA, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Shriner Childrens Hospital, Tampa, FL.
